Between the Lines - a Playback Theatre performance.

Cause I can't continue pretending to choose
The opposite sides on which we fall
The loving you laters if at all
No right minds could wrong be this many times
~ lyrics from Between the Lines by Sarah Bareilles

Caught between the lines of fire, choosing sides, feeling like we don't belong.

Making a stand, finding our voices, building a world without boundaries.

What are your stories of Between the Lines?

Watch as our performers transform your stories into improvisations of movement, music, and spoken word.

Listen as our community comes together and connects through our experiences living in this world.

Friends from the Deaf Community are welcome to join us! There will be sign language interpretation and live note-taking.

Photos from the Aug Open Rehearsal

The idea of open rehearsals has always been a platform for us to advocate for Playback Theatre, and to have a space for us to connect and play with people who have learnt Playback, but do not have a  group to practise with.

Each and every time, we're touched by the generosity of people, and the oneness and feel of community that Playback can create.

We truly hope this community grows. And more and more people will get to know this wonderful craft that can help make the world a better place.

See you at our Open Rehearsals in 2018!

Coming together and connecting.

Learning about Corridors, a narrative short form used in Playback Theatre.

In an open rehearsal, anyone can take the stage and try out the different dramatic structures (forms) we use in Playback Theatre.

Thank you everyone for coming to our last OR of 2017. We're privileged to share this space with you, and to hear your stories.

Come join us at this Playback Theatre show to share and
listen to stories and be enchanted by the spontaneous
enactment of the performers.

Playback Theatre is an improvisational theatre where
individual voices are honoured and communities built
through personal stories.

An interactive event. An improvisational form. A community
theatre engagement. A Playback Theatre performance.
In Playback Theatre, the audience is invited to share
moments and stories triggered by the theme. Performers
will then spontaneously enact them in short dramatic
vignettes, using elements of cloth, music, movement, and
spoken word.

Watch and listen as your stories come to life with
movement, word, music and cloth!

Tapestry's Appreciation Night 2016

Gratitude.
Tapestry's annual Appreciation Gathering for family and friends.
Stories.
Connecting another random group of people.
Community.
When it's no longer random that we come together.

We started this annual affair 3 years ago, to take the time and thank our family and close friends who made sacrifices as we answered the call of Playback.
Since then, it's become a cosy night of food, drink and playback, and a great way to kick off the year!
Our newest recruits working together!

Happy birthday to the January babies!

So much love in the room!

A mix of old and new!

Playing games before we start.

Hanging on. =)

Photos from If This Isn't Love

Thank you everyone for your support at If This Isn't Love. Here are some comments we gathered from the audience. Enjoy the photos!

Audience Comments:
“Amazing acting and theatre work. Such amazing teamwork. Well-oiled team. Very emotive and heart wrenchingly real. Appreciate the talent filled with commitment to the art form.”

“Portrayed each story accurately and the teamwork was amazing!! This is an excellent way for us to come to terms with our feelings. i.e. seeing it unfold with our eyes. It's very therapeutic and helpful.”

“Splendid, wonderful performance. Certain aspects of the stories shared had shone through the performance. The light music accompaniment and fabric used were on point. I think though there could have been more audience engagement at the back though. It is truly the most remarkable playback theatre performance I have got to see.”

“It was great! The stories were well performed and the facilitator was very experienced and sensitive. The actors and musician worked well together. Such a great team!”
