Playback Theatre. The power of stories. Any story. All stories. Someone shares a moment, and the performers will playback it back, with movement, sound, music, cloth and embodiment. Any life moment is played - happy or sad, hilarious or humdrum. It can produce change, new insights and feelings, and even transformation, through the atmosphere of affirmation, creativity and reflection.

Our performance at Yishun Community Hospital

Last night, staff from the soon-to-be-opened Yishun Community Hospital shared stories of their journeys in healthcare with us.
It was beautiful to witness the coming together of a community through sharing and watching their stories enacted on stage.
At the end, the short forms we used to close the show, were about "we are all in this together" and "we all want to make a difference".
Inspiring when it all comes together. Touching when Playback makes a difference.
Privileged to be witnessing and doing this work.
Big thanks to YCH, ArtsWok Collaborative and our volunteers Hao Boon and Sofia.

Photos from If This Isn't Love

Thank you everyone for your support at If This Isn't Love. Here are some comments we gathered from the audience. Enjoy the photos!

Audience Comments:
“Amazing acting and theatre work. Such amazing teamwork. Well-oiled team. Very emotive and heart wrenchingly real. Appreciate the talent filled with commitment to the art form.”

“Portrayed each story accurately and the teamwork was amazing!! This is an excellent way for us to come to terms with our feelings. i.e. seeing it unfold with our eyes. It's very therapeutic and helpful.”

“Splendid, wonderful performance. Certain aspects of the stories shared had shone through the performance. The light music accompaniment and fabric used were on point. I think though there could have been more audience engagement at the back though. It is truly the most remarkable playback theatre performance I have got to see.”

“It was great! The stories were well performed and the facilitator was very experienced and sensitive. The actors and musician worked well together. Such a great team!”

18/4/2015. Day 3: Stories for Change - Playback Theatre Core Training

Day 3: We explored different music instruments, and the roles, power and impact of music in Playback Theatre. We shared more stories from our lives, and found ourselves closer to one another, and closer to ourselves. Now we take a pause, to digest, to feel, to reflect, and to return refreshed next week.
