Outline of Apprentice Programme

Outline of Apprentice Programme

Objectives:

- To equip individuals who are interested in Playback Theatre (P.T.) with the core sills.
- To provide a platform for the apprentices to showcase their P.T. skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
- To provide an avenue for discussion of P.T. issues in a learning and stimulating environment.
- To create mentoring relationships for apprentices who may want to pursue their own interests in P.T. in the long run.

Requirements:

- Anyone with full-time/part-time work experiences
- Has a heart to serve a community
- Enjoys watching or performing the dramatic arts
- Optional: basic singing and acting skills or attended any Playback Samplers.

Date of Commencement: 21 March 2010
Duration: March to August 2010 (6 months)
Day/Time: 1 Sunday per month from 4:30PM - 8:30PM (4 hrs)
1 Open Rehearsal per month from 5PM - 7PM (2hrs)
Cost: Registration Fee $50 + Training Fees $480 = $530
To be paid in full or in 2 installments paid upfront at the start of each term.


Upon finishing the apprenticeship, the apprentice will receive a certificate outlining the total number of training hours (min. 36 hrs - max. 40 hrs) that will be accredited to formal Playback Theatre training hours as recognized by the Centre of Playback Theatre in New York. Selected apprentices may be invited to join Tapestry Playback Theatre as regular members if they are a good fit with the company.

Session 1: Movement I & "Fluid Sculptures" & "Pairs"
Session 2: Movement II & Voicework & "Chorus"
Session 3: Improvisational Theatre & Stories I
Session 4: Stories II & The Essence of the Story
Session 5: The Conducting Experience & The Role of Music in P.T.
Session 6: The Unassigned RolE and Ethics & Taboo Stories in Playback Theatre

2 Special Projects:
Mini Project - Individual Artistic Showcase & Playback Theatre Sharing Performance
