Does It Matter? A Playback Theatre performance in Sept 2017

An old man tottering in the train while seats remain occupied. A community bike with a missing wheel--or two. People elbowing their way into the bus.

What kind of society are we enabling with our sense of entitlement? How do we build a community we'd be proud to live in; one in which we'd trust our neighbours to look out for us? What would a community of civic conscious people look like -- and will we get there?

Join Tapestry Playback Theatre in a conversation on what it takes for us to become a more caring and considerate community. Share your stories about civic conscious (or not!) acts and people in our community.

Playback Theatre is an improvisational form of community theatre. The audience shares real moments from their lives and watch the performers play it back, with elements of cloth, movement, music, and spoken word.

Friends from the Deaf Community are welcome to join us! Please leave us a message to tell us or email us at tapestry.ticketing@gmail.com. Sign Language interpretation will be available upon request.

Clocks and Cockroaches - our first show with signing interpretation!

It is difficult to describe the complex feelings we have when people trust us enough to play back their stories.

We are humbled and joyful that we have the platform to do this work. We are grateful, for friends new and old, that came to share in our journey. We are thankful that we are still here, doing our best.

This is us. In our 14th year, still learning, still growing, still trying out new things, still listening, still serving, and still playing back your stories. =)

Please enjoy these photos from our two shows on May 21 & 22, 2016 at Toa Payoh Central Community Club Auditorium.

Until the next time!

Tapestry Updates!

Dear friends,

hope you've had a restful Labour Day weekend!

Tapestry has had a busy April, and would like to share some of our work with you.

We finished a 12-hour programme at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, as part of a support group for people with HIV.

This was a powerful experience, and gave us more insights into the impact of Playback. We look forward to furthering this work.

Stories for Change - Playback Theatre Core Training, a 40-hour playback workshop, was completed in April as well. More playbackers! Yay!

Check out the photos in our previous post! And Let us know if you want to be kept informed of the next workshop. =)

We also had our second Open Rehearsal in April! Were you there?

This was one of the most international group of people we've had. People came from Australia, Italy, the UK, Malaysia and Indonesia, to share and enact stories with one another. Check out our previous post!

We hope to see you all at our next Open Rehearsal, which is all the way in September.

We have been really busy wrapping up these projects, and now, we're looking forward to our first playback show of the year, Ctrl+Alt+Del!

Get your tickets from CtrlAltDel.peatix.com. It's our first time on this platform, so let us know how it goes for you!

Spread the word and see you in the theatre!

Photos from Maybe If

2 wonderful shows. 2 different conductors. 2 delightful flavours. 5 sensitive & creative performers. Many wonderful stories from the audience. Thank you for being part of "Maybe If".

Warming up in the afternoon before the show.

Going through the paces for our opening stories.

Our musician Ying.

Today's colour is blue...

Laura, our wonderfully sensitive actor.

Jerry, one of the longest serving members of Tapestry.

Our audience members getting to know one another, by shaking hands with one another, winking, and a special sound and action greeting!

Playing a game with the audience before the show begins proper. We love our sporting audiences!

A Pair of Feelings.

What is your Maybe If?

3 solos. That wail in the box was unforgettable.

That moment, when we're all connected to one another. That moment, when we're connected by a story one of us shares. That moment, when there is no other.
