Clocks and Cockroaches - our first show with signing interpretation!

It is difficult to describe the complex feelings we have when people trust us enough to play back their stories.

We are humbled and joyful that we have the platform to do this work. We are grateful, for friends new and old, that came to share in our journey. We are thankful that we are still here, doing our best.

This is us. In our 14th year, still learning, still growing, still trying out new things, still listening, still serving, and still playing back your stories. =)

Please enjoy these photos from our two shows on May 21 & 22, 2016 at Toa Payoh Central Community Club Auditorium.

Until the next time!

Last Open Rehearsal for 1st half of 2016

Hey everyone!

Our next Open Rehearsal is coming and it is going to be the last Open Rehearsal in the first half of 2016. The next Open Rehearsal will be months later, so don't miss the chance to come play with us.

We have a performance in May - Clocks & Cockroaches. Come and have great fun with us. Tickets for the May show can be purchased here -> http://clocksandcockroaches.peatix.com/

Like the previous Open Rehearsals, we will continue learning other short forms in Playback Theatre. We will do a little bit of teaching in the first half of the session followed by sharing our stories and improvising together.

Come and explore Playback Theatre, and have a chance to practise the different roles like the musician, the actor or the storyteller!

Join us at the Toa Payoh Central Community Club Dance Studio (Opposite the library @ 93 Toa Payoh Central Singapore 319194), 7 - 9.30pm.

If you are at curious about what this community theatre is all about, join us and bring a friend too!

We hope to accommodate as many of you as we can, but have limited space, so get your ticket now at apr2016or.peatix.com

This event is free but please support our practice with a small donation. Limited space~!

Friends from the Deaf Community are welcome to join us. Please leave a comment on our Facebook page to tell us. Sign Language interpretation will be available.

Email us at tapestry.sg@gmail.com if you have any questions!

Thank you and see you soon!

Playback Theatre. The power of stories. Any story. All stories. Someone shares a moment, and the performers will playback it back, with movement, sound, music, cloth and embodiment. Any life moment is played - happy or sad, hilarious or humdrum. It can produce change, new insights and feelings, and even transformation, through the atmosphere of affirmation, creativity and reflection.

This event is supported by Toa Payoh Central Community Club and PassionArts.

Come join us at this Playback Theatre show to share and
listen to stories and be enchanted by the spontaneous
enactment of the performers.

Playback Theatre is an improvisational theatre where
individual voices are honoured and communities built
through personal stories.

An interactive event. An improvisational form. A community
theatre engagement. A Playback Theatre performance.
In Playback Theatre, the audience is invited to share
moments and stories triggered by the theme. Performers
will then spontaneously enact them in short dramatic
vignettes, using elements of cloth, music, movement, and
spoken word.

Watch and listen as your stories come to life with
movement, word, music and cloth!
